S2 Awarded Navy SPAWAR Phase II SBIR Contract

March 16, 2009
S2 Corporation has received a Phase II Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Contract from Space and Naval Warfare Systems (SPAWAR). The earlier Phase I contract was originally awarded in response to topic number N07-110 (Navy), with a proposal entitled “Shipboard Wideband Collection Systems Using an S2-Material Based Receiver”. Under the contract, S2 will build a prototype based on the Phase I research and development efforts on laboratory proof-of-concept demonstrations of wideband spectral monitoring. The goals are to achieve wideband 20 GHz spectral surveillance with fast update rates and high dynamic range. The prototype hardware will be built and plans made for a field testing demonstration aboard Naval platforms with wideband antennas. This effort will propel the results of advanced laboratory demonstrations and any necessary prototype upgrades from field test findings, to a design for a packaged, rugged commercial product for military and civilian applications in spectral monitoring and surveillance.
